BTG BACK STAGE at Live Earth USA

July 07, 2007:  BIG NEWS!!  Panel #3 is all done.   It's the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen, well, aside from Panel #1 and #2, and maybe Bon Jovi--but I'm getting ahead of myself here...

So, I hope you don't mind, but I'm taking a little break from all of this sewing and visiting day camps, to rock out at Live Earth for the weekend.  Joining me on this tough assignment is Blanket the Globe's Senior Reporter and photographer (and one of my best friends) Rachel Gianatasio.   We're not just going as ordinary concert goers, you know.  Blanket the Globe has snagged a couple of media passes which will get us backstage and who knows who we might encounter.   With such an awesome list of performers, it's bound to be an unforgetable day.  Check in and we'll keep you posted!!

Yes, we were THAT close.  This is a photo of Boyd Tinsley, the most amazing electric violinist on earth, Stefan Kahil Lessard, bassist, and Dave there in the middle.

I have it on good authority that only five days prior to the band's appearance at Live Earth USA on 07.07.07 Dave and his wife welcomed a new son into their family to join the twin girls they have already.  No wonder he spoke to us about diapers being the third largest waste stream in America!   He suggested finding a little cloth diaper delivery service nearby and go that way instead.  And that's after having twins!

We met just about all of the rock stars (called "talent" when you're in the bubble) and also met a few we weren't expecting.  Jane Goodall spoke with us (even doing chimp calls) and Rachel got to chat with Randy Jackson from American Idol!  Ann Curry from the news was there and seemed like such a nice lady.  We got to chat with Roger Waters from Pink Floyd, KT Tunstall, the guys from Fall Out Boy and Taking Back Sunday, Jon Bon Jovi, Akon, AFI, and more.  Our media passes allowed us access to the concert and the hospitality suite on the 9th floor of the stadium for food and free stuff but there was so much going on in the bubble we didn't want to be away for too long.

BTG to Live Earth; An afterthought

What exactly does this have to do with the Blanket the Globe Project?  Well, I can't say that we gave any thought to bringing our bin of supplies to Giant Stadium for square making, but we did realize that as the concert went on many of the same themes of the day were identical to those of BTG.  "We're all connected..."  "So many voices together..."  Well, you know.   Bottom line is that it was a blast!

Because it's OUR future
